Mobile and stationary

There is an ironic tension in the template established by Lewis Carrol. The protagonists are dynamic and always on the move, but most of characters they interact with are stationary. Rarely does a Wonderland story involve a musical chairs world where everyone is on the move. (Though sometimes they do, usually if everyone is chasing a MacGuffin.)

Relation to environment

This feature can relate to the environment in two different ways:

Harmony

When the character thematically harmonizes with its environment

For example, a librarian in a library.

The Dark Souls series frequently does this, and for some reason I greatly enjoy each time it does.

You’ll be fighting monsters in a fortress, then walk out onto a rooftop, and there will be someone just casually sitting there whom you can talk to.
