This is an archived sub-idea under Design - Reinventing the haunted house.

At least for a haunted house inside the forest (Forest arc), I would like the haunting to have something to do with ancestry.

Ancestry is something my present culture disregards, yet ancestry has been important to most cultures throughout history.

God Himself puts much weight upon ancestry in the Bible.

I want to have examples of good and bad approaches to ancestry. Ancestors should neither be ignored nor worshiped.

Sometimes it seems like people worship their ancestors because they themselves wants to be worshiped and in some sense live forever when they are dead.

In a way this idea works well, and in a way, it is too over-the-top for how I’d like to employ ancestral themes. Part of the purpose of the haunted home idea is to zoom in, where I want to explore ancestral themes in broader, more communal settings.
